This version of the Polish Cross of Valour 1920 was instituted in 1920 and during WWII the Polish Government in exile had another ribbon designed.
Medals issued under authority of the Polish Government in exile in London, retained the originating medal version date 1920. Polish military forces who fought alongside the Soviets 's during WWII had other versions of the Polish Cross of Valour struck with the dates "1939" and "1944".
